In Loving Memory of John Crisostomo: A True Island Warrior and Bridge Between Worlds

🇬🇺

There are some people who don’t just walk into your life—they charge in with heart, with laughter, with presence. That was John Crisostomo.

A fighter. A friend. A father. A connector. A legend in our island circle and beyond.

For those who had the blessing of knowing John, you’ll understand this one truth: he made you feel like family. Whether it was dinner in Hawaii, a run-in on the side of the road, or a reunion on Liberation Day—John brought warmth, depth, and unforgettable laughter.

“To the whole family, massive condolences. You guys have treated us like family—since ever since.” – Roman Dela Cruz

John was a massive supporter of FOKAI and everything Guam. Not in a passive, repost-and-like kind of way—but in a boots-on-the-ground, heart-on-his-sleeve, always-showing-up kind of way.

🥋 A Pioneer for Guam’s Fighters

Long before “MMA” was even a word on the island, John was living it. Over 30 years ago, with just six months of training, he accepted a last-minute fight against an Extreme Fighting Champion. No crowd behind him. No hype. Just that island warrior spirit and pure heart.

He didn’t just survive—he threw the man over his head, making a statement that echoed through Guam’s early fight scene. That fight—win or lose—became a landmark moment, lighting the fire for the next wave of island fighters.

“That moment showed the rest of the Fighting Islanders our potential in off-island competition.”

He was the first-ever feature in the Guam Fighter’s Journal on Pacific Broadcasting Network. A trailblazer who helped pave the way for legends like Big John Calvo, Melchor Manibusan, & Frank “The Crank” Camacho.

🌉 A Bridge Between Guam and Hawaii

John wasn’t just a fighter—he was a bridge.

During the early days of FOKAI’s Fury Promotions, he helped connect Guam’s fighters to Hawaii’s elite—from Kai Kamaka to Ray Cooper and the boys at 808 Fight Factory. John’s influence stretched across oceans. He made Hawaii feel like home for Guam’s warriors, and made sure the love flowed both ways.

“He really bridged the gap… He was a great guy for bringing our people together.”

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A Man of Faith and Family

John came back home—not for recognition, but for love, family, and the island that raised him. A man of quiet strength and deep loyalty.

And now, through the lens of faith, we know he’s still with us—watching over his family, guiding with that same big heart that made us love him in the first place.

🙏 Thank You, John

Thank you for being a warrior when we needed strength.
Thank you for being a brother when we needed connection.
Thank you for being you, John—unapologetically, fully, beautifully.

We’ll ride on with your memory in our hearts.

Until the next level=!
Rest easy, and Si Yu’us Ma’åse.
